Copy Quick Tip | How to Make Your Home Page Headline Pop
Does your home page headline draw people in or scare them away?
The first phrase people see when they land on the home page of your website could make or break your chances of them ever becoming your client.
It's just human nature.
We jump to conclusions. We judge a book by it's cover. We form opinions based on first impressions.
That's why writing those 3-5 words can feel like the absolute hardest part of writing anything else on your website.
There's a lot on the line:
Will it be confusing? Will people know what it means? Will it make people feel good?
✏️ Copy Quick Tip ✏️
Keep your home page headline positive!
Copywriting is all about getting people to feel emotions, so we use a mixture of uplifting thoughts and pain points. But the headline? Here's a place you want to be positive. Get people feeling happy and excited to have discovered you right from the start.
Here are 3 formulas to make your home page headline POP!
The Aspirational Headline
The aspirational headline paints a picture of what your clients will experience or feel after working with you. It tells the benefit or outcome they want. Think about what you can help them achieve. Like this:
Get [success] with [your approach]
Get Better Sleep Naturally
The Helper Headline
The helper headline is written with an action word to describe what it is you do the help people. It can be written in a complete sentence (beginning with We) or as a phrase (beginning with a verb). Like this:
Helping [ideal client] [achieve success] [with or without what]
Helping Kids Focus Without Medications
The Philosophical Headline
The philosophical headline leans into why you do what you do. It gets people to connect with your mission. This heart-centered approach will attract clients who believe in a similar way as you. Like this:
Because we believe [ideal client] deserve [success]
Because we believe every woman deserves to love her period.
