Copy Quick Tip | Sentence Starters
Stop dwelling over the first sentence!!!
This used to be me:
I'd have an idea for a social media post or blog article and sit down to start writing but then...
Refill my water.
Check my email.
Start a grocery list.
Do some stretches.
Take a bathroom break.
Check my email again.
I just couldn't get started. Part of the problem was that I know the first sentence carries about 90% of the weight of anything we write. People have a shorter attention span than goldfish, and the human attention span has declined almost 25% over the last couple of decades.
So we need a strong start to make sure people keep reading.
It was only when I started following frameworks, formulas, and prompts that I finally got out of my own way and started writing copy fast.
✏️ Copy Quick Tip ✏️
Use prompts for attention-grabbing sentence starters—like social media hooks and email subject lines.
Here are some examples of prompts to kick off a social media caption:
- Can I let you in on a secret?
- Best ways to...
- Why is nobody talking about...
- # signs you might...
Can you imagine how much easier it is to start writing when you have a jumping-off point like this?
It also works great for email subject lines, like:
- No...? No problem.
- I love this new.....!
- How to....
- Update on...
If you want to give prompts a try, I put together a handy resource for you. It's something I have by my side every time I sit down to write. It's called the Health Entrepreneur's Copywriting PromptKit, and you can get it here→
