No ROI From Posting Consistently? Start These Strategies Now.
A practitioner came to me the other day and said, “Sarah, I’ve been posting consistently to Instagram for 2 years and still see no ROI.”
Ouch.
That’s a lot of effort for no return.
She has more perseverance than I would in the same situation.
But more importantly, this is just not okay. If you are also a wellness practitioner who is putting in the effort to show up consistently with your content and not seeing clients come in the door because of it, I hope you’ll take what I’m about to teach in this article to heart. This is for anyone who is posting content to social media or sending regular emails to their list and yet:
X Getting minimal likes, comments, or share on social—and definitely no inquiries about your services
X Seeing low email open rates and virtually no click-through rates
X Pouring hours of your time into content creation and questioning and getting burned out
X Questioning yourself and wondering if any of this is even worth it
Even if it’s just one of those things—the biggest thing to remember is that you are a practitioner first and it’s just not fair to expect you would naturally also be an expert marketer or content creator.
So, deep breaths.
When you start to incorporate the 3 strategies below, your entire relationship with content creation could shift. You’ll start to get more people interacting with your social media posts, more people clicking through your emails, and more clients in your door. Yes, it will take a bit of effort on your part, but when you start to see some results, you’ll be motivated to keep going. Like Anya, who said:
"So once I started implementing the content and customizing it in the way that I have, I've had about 30 or 40 percent more inquiries in my DMs. And what's interesting is that those people are staying in my funnel. So they are not like just inquiring because they see me as an information source. They're actually asking me for information because they see me as an authority. The person who will solve their problem."
In this post, I'm covering 3 specific and powerful things you can start doing right now to get a better ROI from your content. Here we go!
1: The Ideal Client Snippet
One of the simplest ways to make your content stand out is by being incredibly specific about who you’re speaking to. That’s where the Ideal Client Snippet comes in. This is a short, five-words-or-less description of your ideal client. It could highlight the type of person you want to work with—like “busy exhausted moms” or “women over 40.” Or it could zero in on a specific health issue they’re struggling with, such as “men struggling with adult acne.”
Why is this important?
Because your ideal client needs to immediately recognize themselves in your content. If they don’t see a clear connection between what you’re sharing and their own life, they’ll keep scrolling. But when they see that snippet—those few words that describe them—it stops them in their tracks and makes them think, “Wait, this is for me.”
Once you’ve nailed down your Ideal Client Snippet, you’ll use it everywhere. Include it as a hook on your social posts, put it on the first slide of a carousel, overlay it on your reels, or make it the focus of a static post. Drop it into your captions, too—right at the start—so people know the content was created with them in mind.
This strategy works because it immediately establishes you as the go-to person for solving their specific problem. And when your audience feels seen and understood, they’re far more likely to engage with your content, follow your call to action, and ultimately become clients.
2: Signature Phrases
Signature phrases are short, memorable sayings that capture one core part of your message each. They’re those sticky little nuggets of wisdom or perspective that your audience can’t help but remember. For example, maybe you often say, “80% is enough,” when coaching clients on finding balance with food or exercise. Or perhaps, “Your body knows best,” is a mantra you repeat to encourage people to trust their intuition about their health.
These phrases are powerful for two reasons. First, they showcase the unique angles and thought leadership that set you apart. When someone hears your signature phrase, it’s like they’re hearing your voice—it reflects your perspective and values in a way that stands out. Second, they’re repeatable and memorable. The more often your audience hears your phrases, the more they associate them with you and your expertise.
Once you develop a handful of signature phrases, you can sprinkle them throughout your content. Use them in your social media captions, your email newsletters, your client sessions, and even your presentations. Repetition is your friend here! When your audience sees and hears these phrases consistently, they begin to recognize your voice, trust your insights, and connect with your message on a deeper level.
Ultimately, signature phrases make you unforgettable. And when your audience remembers you, they’re far more likely to turn to you when they’re ready for support. Trust builds clients, and signature phrases are a simple yet impactful way to build that trust.
3: Open Loops
Ever heard the phrase “leave them wanting more”? That’s the essence of an open loop—a powerful technique to spark curiosity and keep your audience engaged. In content creation, open loops work by teasing the next part of your message, encouraging your audience to stick around and take action.
For example, let’s say you’re creating a reel about women in perimenopause. The text overlay might say, “The one thing I wish more women in perimenopause would track is their protein intake. Read the caption for why.” The caption then closes that loop by explaining why protein intake is essential—but it opens the next loop by saying, “Learn the exact 5 strategies I use to help women feel their best in perimenopause in my free webinar.” Now your audience is curious to attend your webinar to get those strategies.
This pattern continues like a connected ball of yarn, with each piece of content teasing the next step until your audience ultimately books a session or signs up for your program.
Open loops work because they trigger curiosity—a natural human response that makes people want to resolve unanswered questions.
Think of every piece of content you create as part of a larger through-line. Use hooks in your reels, captions, or emails to pique interest, then offer just enough information to satisfy your audience while creating intrigue for what’s next.
When done well, this approach keeps your audience engaged, builds trust, and creates a natural flow toward your ultimate goal: converting them into clients.
Common Questions I Get
One common question is, “What if I don’t know my ideal client persona or signature phrases?”
Most practitioners don’t. The truth is, defining your ideal client persona and discovering your signature phrases is an ongoing process that evolves as your business grows. One thing you can do to make this easier is to grab my Custom GPT Starter Pack.

The other thing I hear a lot is, “What if I’m just totally burned out on content creation and want to get off the hamster wheel altogether?”
I hear you. Content burnout is real. That’s why I created Nurture Unleashed®. It’s a content membership that delivers done-for-you captions, emails, and Canva templates tailored specifically for naturopathic and functional medicine practitioners.
You can customize the content with your Ideal Client Snippet or Signature Phrases to make it uniquely yours—all while conserving your mental energy for the things that matter most to you and your biz.
